1961 New York Yankees Support Personnel

"The health and welfare of Yankee players are as important as any other phase of the baseball operation at the Stadium. The Stadium itself has long been recognized as the best maintained in the country. Under the able direction of Superintendent Jim Thomson and a fine staff, Yankee Stadium remains as modern as the day it was built. The player clubhouses, uniforms and equipment are given A-1 care."

GUS MAUCH AND JOE SOARES (Trainers)
"But most important is the health and welfare of the Yankee players themselves and the young prospects in the Yankee farm system. The Yankees have two full-time trainers. Gus Mauch has been trained for more years than any of the Yankee players have been here. Before coming into baseball, he served as a trainer of pro and college football teams. With Gus the last two seasons is Joe Soares who has been with the organization for 10 full years. Before joining the parent club, he served with the Richmond Virginians and other Yankee farm clubs."

PETE SHEEHY AND PETE PREVITE (Clubhouse Men)
"Long-time Yankee clubhouse men are Pete (Big Pete) Sheehy and Pete (Little Pete) Previte. Sheehy has been a Yankee since 1927, Previte since 1942."

BRUCE HENRY (Traveling Secretary)
"Bruce Henry, Yankee road secretary, is a veteran in the organization but only in his second year with the parent club. He spent many years as a minor league business manager, most recently with the Yankees' Richmond farm club. He's responsible for the players' travels, facilities and all other details."
